In addition to its spiritual and ethical guidance, the Holy Quran contains references to natural phenomena and living organisms that can be explored through interdisciplinary scientific research. Among these references, the hoopoe (Upupa epops) and the crow (Corvus spp.) exhibit distinctive biological, behavioral, and cognitive characteristics that provide valuable inspiration for biomimetic research. The aim of this study is to analyze the biological and behavioral characteristics of these two birds and extract their functional principles to propose potential engineering and technological applications. This descriptive–analytical study was conducted through an extensive review of Quranic references, biological and ethological studies, and biomimetic engineering literature. The findings indicate that characteristics such as the probing beak, respiratory mechanisms, and locomotion patterns of the hoopoe, together with the cognitive abilities, social behaviors, and structural features of the crow, provide functional principles applicable to the design of bio-inspired sensors, robotic systems, intelligent technologies, and advanced materials. Accordingly, this study proposes a systematic framework for translating the biological characteristics of these birds into engineering concepts based on functional principles. The results demonstrate that integrating biological knowledge with Quranic references can provide a valuable foundation for interdisciplinary research and future developments in biomimetic technologies.
