The present study aims to investigate the impact of educational and gender diversity among board members on corporate social responsibility (CSR), considering the moderating role of CEO overconfidence. Although extensive research has been conducted on CSR, no prior study has focused on the composition of the board of directors and psychological traits of CEOs within the context of Iran. This research utilizes data from 108 companies listed on the Tehran Stock Exchange over the period 2018 to 2023. Linear regression analysis was employed to test the hypotheses. The results indicate that both educational and gender diversity within the board have a positive and significant effect on CSR. Moreover, CEO overconfidence negatively and significantly moderates the relationship between gender diversity and CSR. A similar moderating effect was observed in the relationship between educational diversity and CSR. The findings highlight the importance of board composition and executive psychological traits in improving firms’ social responsibility performance.
